Detta blev starten på många gemensamma resor genom åren. Den första resan gick till Madeira. Vi bodde på hotell The Jardins d’Ajuda som låg centralt med gångavstånd till city. Under vår vecka gjordes ett flertal besök i city, bussutflykt med besök i bland annat Nunnornas dal, besök på botaniska trädgårdar linbanetur till stadens övre delar och slädåkning nerför de branta gatorna. Vi såg även den gamla yachten som var med i Beatlesfilmen Help. Tidsmässigt så sammanföll vår resa med den årliga blomster festivalen så vi även njuta av vackra blomsterdekorationer.
